Went out for a normal breakfast at our local I-Hop. Took me a while to concretize that the Hop stood for House of Pancakes. I knew about the "International " part but was figuring that the food must be so delicious that it makes International folks hop and or dance after a meal.
After living overseas in an enchanting country for three years one may come to realize that they miss certain things. Like a good ol' boy American Breakfast. Eggs, toast, butter in a cup, etc. Italy only inhales an espresso and off they go.
I'm there with my dad and I'm pretty excited about the dining experience. It's quite tacky there and I just love it. The fake plants, the random chotchki's and the music. Oh wait. Not the music. I casually note that Kenny Rogers is playing. Okay, cool. Nothing against Kenny. We order and chat. I get Viv' La French Toast. When our order arrives we notice that The Gambler is playing. Holy Nashville!!!! Soon after we start counting the K.R. songs and look for Howie Mandel to show up. Is he filming us? "Lady...I'm your night in shining armor and I love you...? We are really cracking up at this point. Like I said, Kenny Rogers is great, but you gotta know when to hold 'em!!!!
I think I'll burn them a cd of Sean Paul for my next visit. It's all good.
I think, out of all the countries that I've lived in and visited that the US has the best breakfasts, hands down. Granted, I'm a bit partial since I am an American, but really. Who can deny the goodness of bacon?
